The Public Intel Report's Code of Ethics
The Public Intel Report (PIR) commits to the following:
- Identification of sources if it is a matter of public interest (it nearly always is) and no one's safety is at risk. In some cases, the source need to be protected.
- No conduction of investigations merely for private interests. The public interest must always be present in the outcome of an investigative article.
- The public outing of propagandistic influence operators, particularly if they are an enemy of the United States or the civil rights of individuals, be it foreign or domestic.
- The proper citation, references and accreditation to journalists, writers, and other sources of information.
- An emphasis on the sourcing of primary source documentation where possible.
- An recognition of the importance of giving a platform to whistleblowers, who are often the first targets of censorship.
- An emphasis on verified information, stories, and reports which have been subject to censorship.
