Narco Journalist Livestreams Update from Deadly Mexican Federal Prison

2 minutes, 13 seconds Read

OG Shadow gave his second live video update on Friday from a Mexican federal prison. Shadow was featured in my first book, Public Intelligence.

“If they did want to hide a riot or a massacre it would be less problematic for them as far as the government to admit that well yeah, these guys got some dope in the prison and they overdosed, than to say, well you know, there’s a massacre and we stood by and didn’t stop it. because this is a number you guys and if they’re reporting 17, I guarantee the actual number is a lot higher with something else we have to keep in mind here right it’s not always as small as they say it is. I was present for a riot when I was in prison just around a year ago and they only reported two deaths and there was dozens. That’s just an example, right?”

Question: Do [the prisons] lose funding for not stopping riots?

It’s not so much funding but it’s more negative attention to the fact that the director of the Prison or whatever-he’s going to have a lot of pressure put on him from higher up you know and it’s nothing good. The government doesn’t want your name or that prison to be ringing. He’s the only one responsible for that and his policies end of the day.”

“Yeah, I did hear about El Nini’s arrest…in fact, this is nuts I’ll tell you guys a story. I got put into a punishment area for a conflict I was in. Just like a small conflict in my block and while I was in there someone comes up to me-and you want to talk about a small world. They were one of the sicarios that raided my ranch,” Shadow said.
