Journalist Derrick Broze was threatened with arrest by the Houston Police Department (HPD) after an attempt to ask a question of former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Mike Pompeo, at an event hosted by the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston at The Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria in Houston, Texas on Friday, January 27th, 2023.
The independent investigative journalist called the police officers who worked as Pompeo's de-facto bodyguards and henchmen, "drones."
"They're going to sit here and keep me out but all I want to do is ask one question: should the American people trust the man who is an admitted liar, cheater, and stealer? These cops get paid to protect him. They're just drones, honestly."
After a period of time reporting on the event and waiting for an opportunity to ask a question of Pompeo, Broze was told by the Houston Police Department (HPD) he would be arrested if he stayed and was forced to leave the area.

"In that building behind me, the World Affairs Council is welcoming former Secretary of State. Mike Pompeo, who is an admitted liar, propagandist and thief. Also working with the CIA. As usual with the World Affairs Council they're going to be inviting a war criminal here. A politician with an agenda here to sell his book and probably run for president," Broze said.
Broze asserted that as part of the kabuki political theater and programming, easy to influence populations like children and the elderly are shepherded into attendance.
"They just bussed in, I saw a school bus come in- which was either bussing in a bunch of students which is what they often do - or elderly people, who, for whatever reason, follow this propaganda," Broze added.

Broze stated that he was surrounded by police almost immediately upon entering the building.
"I was inside and all of sudden the cops start showing up and surrounding me and basically saying, 'You're Derrick Broze right? You're not welcome.' But I just tried to inform them like, 'Hey this guy that you're protecting and that these cops right here are protecting is a war criminal. This man, particularly, Pompeo, is an admitted liar, cheater, stealer and these cops right here are wasting your tax dollars to protect him and most of them have no idea who he even is," Broze said.
The independent journalist and documentary filmmaker cited a video which showed the quote by Pompeo he cited.
"What's the cadet motto at West Point? You will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do.' I was the CIA Director. We lied, we cheated, we stole," Pompeo said. "We had entire training courses."
"It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment," Pompeo added to his statement.
Broze is reportedly going to be actively pursuing his independent journalism in Houston throughout 2023.
"God I cannot wait until this spring, summer and fall in Houston. It is going to be fun exposing these criminals again," Broze said on Sunday.
