Political operative Charles Johnson, the founder of the genomics company Traitwell and the facial recognition API Clearview, revealed in a January 23rd tweet that he once worked as an informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) but was terminated after he reported on "misbehavior" by agents of the government of Israel.

“The FBI canceled me as a confidential informant when I reported about Israeli misbehavior,” Johnson said.

Johnson posted the quote tweet as a response to a post by “Palestine Legal'."

“We’ve received several reports of the FBI visiting activists in response to their social media posts criticizing Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. We want you to #KnowYourRights if approached by federal law enforcement,” the Twitter account stated.

Palestine Legal’s bio description states the account is comprised of “Activists in the US are censored and punished for speaking up for Palestinian freedom. We challenge the censorship so voice for justice can be heard.

Abed A. Ayoub is the National Executive Director of the ADC, or the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee who is based in Washington D.C., and whose own tweet from October 12th, 2023, caught the attention of Palestine Legal.

“We have received multiple calls today regarding Palestinian nationals detained by ICE, and/or visited by the FBI,” Ayoub said. “The FBI has also visited multiple mosques today, in different states, as well as Arab inmates.”

“This is a troubling trend,” Ayoub added.

On Tuesday, Chuck added to his Twitter-world thoughts on the Israel-FBI relationship in a response to a piece of writing by James Badford.

“Thus, few things are more guaranteed to make a senior FBI official break out in a cold sweat, and then clam up, than being asked about Israel. During a long interview over lunch with Frank Figliuzzi Jr., the bureau’s former assistant director for counterintelligence, I asked, “Why haven’t you looked into Israel?’ Suddenly his eyes widened, and he immediately reverted to sign language. He put one finger to his lips and waved another over my tape recorder in what seemed an attempt to make it disappear. Understanding the strange pantomime, I turned off the recorder."

We’re going to need to talk about how the FBI and the DOJ is compromised by Israel as this section in @WashAuthor makes clear,” Johnson said in response.

Johnson asserted that Israel has been taking concrete political actions on behalf of both Egypt and Qatar.

“Senator Menendez has been accused of taking official action on behalf of Egypt and Qatar,” Citizens for Ethics said. “Now a third foreign connection is added to the list: Albania.”

“It’s time to add Israel too,” Johnson said in response.

Johnson also stated that Rep. Cori Bush “rightly called what’s happening in Gaza ‘ethnic cleansing.’”
